WHAT IS C9?

C9 (9-Hydroxycorynantheidine) is an indole alkaloid derivative based on corynantheidine, an alkaloid originally identified in the kratom plant.

C9 is an alkaloid derivative built on a Corynanthe-type framework, known to interact with opioid receptors, primarily mu receptors, as a partial agonist, meaning it engages the receptor without fully activating it, resulting in a more moderated and balanced response.

The “9-hydroxy” designation refers to a small structural change on the molecule, where a hydroxyl (–OH) group is present at the 9 position. Even minor changes like this can influence how a compound behaves compared to its original form.

C9 is produced at the alkaloid level rather than consumed as raw plant material, meaning it is not dependent on kratom leaf itself as a finished product.
